The historic book market, Al-Azbakeya in Cairo, Egypt, was re-opened after a massive renovation.
The renovation was carried out with the assistance of the Ministry of Egyptian Housing, and was an important part of Cairo’s culture since 1907.
Before being renovated, books were sold on land in the book market
Heba Karam, one of the owners of the book kiosk, said that this renovation finally returned the honor to the book.
This renovation has produced 133 new stalls built from the design of the selected student competition that combines modern infrastructure with European -style elements while maintaining its historical character.
