A mother complains that there is no significant change for
airplane passengers
disabled in the last 20 years. He said this after the supporting chair of his son’s body was not loaded into a low -cost airline Ryanair to Poland.
After being sent three days later, the child’s wheelchair arrived in a damaged state.
Kirsty Diaso and his son, Andre (3.5 years), flew alone from Dublin Airport, Ireland to Warsaw, Poland on Saturday, June 28.Andre suffers from cerebral palsy and quadriplegia and blind.
Diaso who is a former flight attendant and his son boarded a Ryanair plane with flight number FR1925 using OCS ambulift.Unwittingly, the wheelchair was left behind in Ireland.
When landing, the airport assistance staff boarded to the plane and told the family that Andre’s wheelchair was still in Dublin.
Diaso claimed that the staff said, “(wheelchair) is not loaded into the plane, so you have to carry him (Andre).”
“What I find in disabled children is that people hope you carry them, but they don’t understand that it’s not as easy as carrying toddlers who can walk,” Diaso said, as reported
The Independent
.
He was forced to carry Andre, two backpacks, two suitcases, and one baby bed alone passing the Airport Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki. The mother and child visited Warsaw to undergo special therapy for two weeks.
Without a wheelchair, Diaso was forced to stay in an apartment in the Capital City of Poland with her child for three days.”This is really a disaster, terrible, very tense,” he said.
Diaso admitted that he could not even go to the shop to buy water, because he was traveling alone and could not carry his disabled child for a long time.
When trying to fill in the luggage form missing, he claimed that the staff only offers adult -sized wheelchairs as a seat for Andre. This incident made Andre very stressed, confused, and frustrated.
“Eliminating a person’s rights to comfort and dignity is a different thing. He has no legs, the chair is his feet,” Diaso added.
Ryanair finally sent the seat to Poland on the next flight.Although the aids arrived in Warsaw on Sunday night, the chair was only delivered to the therapy clinic on Tuesday morning.
When it arrived, Diaso saw the wheelchair’s foot holder “completely released” and had to be repaired. In addition, the folding mechanism is now “drag.”
The photos shared showed the right wheel of the body supporting chair bent away from the frame.Fannin, a medical device company, told Diaso that a wheelchair worth 3,000 euros or around Rp52 million “could not be repaired.”
Diaso mentioned the customer’s service he received from Ryanair while waiting for the delayed supporting chair “really surprising” with “no solution was offered.”
A Ryanair live chat service agent suggested Diaso to “be patient” and add that they could not guarantee anything.
