Lost
passport
In the middle of the holiday, especially when in a foreign or foreign country, it certainly becomes a nightmare that can trigger panic.
As the most vital identity document for every international traveler, the loss of passports can hamper travel. However, it is important not to panic and immediately take the right steps.
Passport is proof of an irreplaceable self -identity when you are abroad. Therefore, this document must always be stored and protected as well as possible. As an anticipatory step, it is highly recommended to always save a copy or photocopy of your passport.
Although not mandatory, this copy can accelerate the identity verification process by the authorities, including important details such as passport number, publishing date, expiration date, and publishing place.
If your passport, along with a visa that is often attached to it, is lost while traveling abroad, here are the steps you must immediately take:
Quick action when the passport is gone
1. Create a police report
Immediately report your passport to the nearest police station in the country where you are.Be sure to ask for an official loss report. This document will be very much needed in the process of managing a new passport or temporary travel document.
2. Contact Indonesian Representative
Report your passport loss to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI), Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI), or the Indonesian Trade and Economic Office (KDEI) in the country. They are the front guard that will help you.
3. Submit a new travel document (SPLP)
After reporting, you need to apply for a Passport Travel (SPLP) or Emergency Certificate.SPLP functions as a temporary travel document.Officers at the embassy will guide you about special requirements.Based on information from the Immigration Office, SPLP is valid for two years, but can only be used for one trip back to Indonesia and cannot be extended.
4. Re -issuance of passports (if needed)
The embassy has the authority to issue a new passport.Keep in mind, the passport issued is a new passport with a new number and date, not duplicate from a missing passport.
5. Re -submit a visa
The loss of an automatic passport means the loss of the visa in it.To continue the journey to another country that requires a visa, you need to re -submit a visa to the embassy or related state consulate.Prepare a copy of the old visa, new passports, police reports, accommodation details, flight plans, and sufficient proof of funds.
SPLP Making Requirements
To apply for SPLP, here are some documents that need to be completed:
– Fill out the application form for making a passport.
– Fill out the registration form for Indonesian citizens who have not been registered at the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate General.
– Include 1 (one) sheet of color photograph (note the photo requirements in detail).
– A copy of one of the identity documents (residence permit) or a domicile proof.
– Copy of birth certificate.
– Copy of old passports (if any and possible).
– Certificate of loss from the local police.
– Pay a passport making cost of USD50 (for 48 -page passports), USD10 (for 24 -page passports), or USD5 (for SPLP).
It is important to know that after a new passport or SPLP is issued by the Indonesian Embassy, the old passport that has been lost will be automatically declared revoked and no longer valid. Therefore, fast and exact handling is very crucial in this situation.
