The CEO of the Broadband Fibre Compare comparison site, Geoff Pestell, revealed that one of the biggest risks to join the Public Wi-Fi network is the potential for identity theft.
He stressed that connected to an unsafe airport network can allow cyber criminals to collect various kinds of personal details, ranging from the existence and history of your trip to financial data, including banking and credit card details, as well as basic but sensitive information such as names, contact details, and your marital status.
And this is not the only concern, because of the public Wi-Fi hotspot, which is often not encrypted, making your internet activities completely vulnerable.
“Many users do not realize that the public Wi-Fi network often does not encrypt the data you send,” said Geoff.
