Back in response to the 4 -year -old toddler case named Raya who died with a lot of worms in his body.
Budi asserted that death was not caused by intestinal worms, because worm disease certainly did not cause death.Budi said the case of death was allegedly caused by infection.
“Worms did not cause death. So, yesterday his death was not due to intestinal worms. His death was due to infection,” Budi said at the Wondr ITB Ultra Marathon 2025 press conference at Grha BNI, Central Jakarta, Sunday (8/24).
Budi explained that the latest Ministry of Health’s findings found the strongest suspicion of the cause of death was the result of tuberculosis (TB), instead of meningitis as previously revealed.
He said the alleged TB became strong after receiving the latest information that the late Raya had a cough with phlegm for three months.
“The infection is thought to be able to tuberculosis or meningitis,” said Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
“But the allegation is more towards Tuberculosis because the person concerned has coughing phlegm three months, not meningitis,” he continued.
Budi previously claimed to be sad and mourned over the things that befell Raya.He stated that with this high case, it turns out that many people still need good health services.
He also claimed that differences in services in big cities and in remote areas are still very far.This is a warning for all relevant parties, especially in the health sector, in order to make improvements, especially in public health services.
“The difference between the quality of health services in big cities and in remote areas is still very far,” he said.
“The example of this case becomes, like an alarm for us to ensure that we don’t have to go far. The one in West Java, near I was talking to Mr. Dedi [West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi], let’s finish it,” Budi said.
“What is the first thing we want to clean up? In areas like that we want to make sure from the health side of the entire health department down to the Puskesmas. Can see if there are symptoms of worms of one child that means it is not clean, it was immediately given a worm medicine,” he added.
A toddler named Raya died with his body condition filled with worms.
During the observation period, the doctor found worms coming out of the nose.More than one kilogram of living worms was successfully removed from his body before he died.
