BPOM found that there were 34 dangerous cosmetics on the market.This finding is the result of routine supervision intensification during the April-June period (Quarter II) 2025.
“BPOM has taken firm action on cosmetics findings that are proven to contain dangerous and/or prohibited substances. BPOM has revoked a distribution permit and temporarily stopped activities (CSWs), which includes stopping production, distribution, and import activities,” said Head of BPOM Taruna Ikrar quoting from an official website

Most cosmetics are produced based on production contracts (28 items).In addition, there are local cosmetics (2 items) and imported cosmetics (4 items).
BPOM Pull 34 Dangerous Cosmetics
The test results show that all products contain harmful ingredients or prohibited ingredients.These ingredients include, mercury, retinoic acid, hydrokuinone, lead, methane yellow coloring, and steroids.
The effects cause vary from mild to severe effects.The following details.
Mercury: black spots (ochronosis), allergic reactions, irritation, headaches, diarrhea, vomiting, kidney damage
Retinoic acid: dry skin, burning sensation in the skin, changes in shape or function of fetal organs in pregnant women
Hydrokuinone: hyperpigmentation, ochronicis, corneal color changes and nails
Lead: damage to the function of organs and body systems
Metanel yellow coloring: cancer, liver damage, damage to the nervous system and brain
Steroids: prickly heat, skin atrophy, hypertricosis, photosensitive, contact dermatitis, allergic reactions
