) RI revoked the distribution permit of 21 products
cosmetics
.Revocation of a distribution permit is carried out because of the discovery of a mismatch between the composition registered with BPOM and those listed in the product packaging.
This discrepancy includes differences in the type of material, material content, or even both.According to BPOM, this can have an impact on the safety and claim of product benefits.
The majority of violations are found in skincare products resulting from production contracts, namely products made by third parties for certain brands.This practice is indeed common in the cosmetics industry, but it is still required to comply with applicable regulations.
In his statement, BPOM stressed that composition mismatch can cause health risks.For example, an allergic reaction appears in consumers who are sensitive to certain materials that are not listed in the packaging label.
Not only that, the benefits of the product are not in line with the claims of their uses.
“The making of cosmetics must always be carried out according to applicable provisions, including guidelines for how to make good cosmetics (CPKB). In it requires the manufacture of each batch of cosmetic products must be in accordance with the name of the product and the formula that is proposed/approved by the notification,” said the Head of BPOM Taruna Ikrar quoted

BPOM stated, this action was an implementation of BPOM Regulation Number 21 of 2022 concerning Procedures for Submitting Cosmetics Notifications.
As a form of administrative sanctions, the 21 products are declared no longer having a distribution permit.
Not only revoking a distribution permit, BPOM also requires business actors to attract and destroy products that violate the provisions.
“In addition, the cosmetics notification owner (BUPN) business entity is also advised to always make concrete efforts to ensure that the distribution products have the composition according to what is dinotified,” said Taruna.
