This decision was a change from the previous SKB, namely SKB No.1017 of 2024, No.2 of 2024 and No.2 of 2024 concerning National Holidays and Joint Leave of 2025.
The official announcement was conveyed by Deputy Minister of State Secretary, Juri Ardiantoro, at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, Friday (1/8).
According to the jury, the addition of joint leave on D+1 day of independence aims to give more time for the community to hold competitions and other activities.
“Monday, August 18, 2025, as a day that was closed to give the freedom and opportunity for the community to hold other competitions and activities,” he said.
The jury emphasized that this determination was a joint leave, not a national holiday.This is important to understand so that people who work in certain sectors, especially those who do not follow the joint leave calendar, can adjust the schedule.
This information also answers public doubts related to whether the SKB 3 Minister of the August 18 holiday already exists or not.
Based on the latest SKB, after the celebration of the Republic of Indonesia Anniversary on August 17 until the end of 2025 there were still two national holidays, namely September 5 for the Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad and December 25 for Christmas.
Meanwhile, a joint leave remains on December 26, 2025, to coincide with a leave with Christmas.
With this decision, the community is expected to take advantage of the long holiday 17-18 August 2025 to rest or celebrate independence with various positive activities.
